More urban regrowth. I love this piece of rust and could have used it a number of ways but this is what happened to it:

  1. I love the way the flowers grow through the rust. It reminds me so much of areas of the old steel mills and other abandoned places in our country that once were full of life and industry, now quiet harbors for wildflowers.


    • You’ve hit the nail on the head. I love the way nature takes over if allowed. What we make rusts, falls apart or disintegrates one way or another and nature prevails! I’m going to try using some other rusted pieces in future embroideries. I like the dichotomy of the two materials and even of the way embroidery is normally thought of as dainty embellishment and the rust as something to be ignored or thrown on the scrap heap.
